Position Summary

Located within the South Division, the Category Manager for Production Equipment plays a pivotal role in driving cost reductions and strategically managing supplier partnerships to enhance CRH's profitability and competitive edge. This position is accountable for overseeing spend categories and implementing all category-related decisions regarding products and services at a local level. As part of the regional category team, the manager will leverage the category management process to formulate strategies, execute tenders, establish effective supply programs, and ensure the overall success of these initiatives. The role is essential in ensuring that local business needs are integrated into the category strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the representative and lead category manager for various CRH product-group organizations.
  • Act as the primary category contact for the business regarding Production Equipment.
  • Oversee procurement KPI performance management and ensure adherence to processes within the division.
  • Ensure that products and services are procured in a cost-effective and timely manner, implementing best purchasing practices.
  • Act as an escalation point for unresolved claims.
  • Ensure local execution of the category strategy.
  • Conduct RFX and tactical processes, including negotiations for smaller or single-country categories.
  • Be accountable for the development, execution, and maintenance of the division's procurement strategy and Project Procurement Plans.
  • Align with division stakeholders and global procurement strategies.
  • Maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers in the division.
  • Develop and sustain strategic relationships with stakeholders in Production Equipment.
  • Analyze supply markets, anticipate changes, and drive related procurement activities.
  • Evaluate contracts and suppliers to facilitate informed supplier base decisions.
  • Coordinate the implementation of category and supplier strategies within the division.

  • Proven experience as a well-rounded Procurement professional with strong business acumen.
  • Data-driven and people-oriented decision maker.
  • Ability to lead and execute the divisional category management agenda effectively.
  • Engaged partner who collaborates with both the business and regional procurement teams to achieve Production Equipment procurement goals.

Education and Experience

• A degree in a Technical or Business field is required.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing is preferred.

• Experience in category management within a multi-country organization is essential.

• Familiarity with managing Production Equipment and Maintenance & Production Services vendors, particularly in the mining and construction sectors, is preferred.

• Proficiency in written and verbal English is mandatory; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.

• Willingness to participate in international projects is expected.
