Boston Government Services (BGS) is on the lookout for a Senior Engineer or Scientist specializing in High-Temperature Solar Research and Development to support the Department of Energy's (DOE) Solar Energy Technology Office (SETO).

Role Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate current and emerging Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) technologies for electricity generation and process heat applications, identifying their advantages and challenges within integrated commercial energy systems.
  • Act as a technical advisor in developing user requirements, assessing proposed technical designs, evaluating technical progress, and planning risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee and manage a diverse portfolio of R&D projects.
  • Prepare and present scientific and technical materials at stakeholder engagement forums, including conferences and technical meetings involving government representatives, academia, and industry partners.
  • Assist in reviewing application materials and concept papers, conducting pre-screening of related documents to support competitive solicitations.
  • Facilitate information flow between Federal Contract Managers and Industry Partnerships, supporting decision-making and ensuring effective execution of directives.
  • Conduct research and prepare technical briefings, white papers, or related deliverables as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or physical sciences.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant research or work experience.
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid arrangement with regular visits to the Washington, DC office.
  • Successful completion of a drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering or physical sciences is strongly preferred.
  • Ph.D. in engineering or physical sciences is preferred.

Location and Work Arrangement:

  • This position is based in Washington, DC, with a hybrid work arrangement.
