Senior Water Resources Restoration Specialist

Stone Environmental, Inc. is in search of a committed Senior Water Resources Restoration Specialist to enhance our Water Resources Management division. The ideal candidate will collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals and various stakeholders to design and implement ecosystem restoration initiatives. These projects often encompass dam removal, upgrades to road-stream crossings, habitat enhancement, floodplain reconnection, and bioengineering techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive and participate in business development activities related to stream and floodplain restoration services, including project scoping, proposal creation, and representing the firm at industry conferences and meetings.
  • Oversee project teams to ensure technical, scheduling, and budgetary goals are met.
  • Guide and assign project responsibilities to junior and mid-level water resources scientists and engineers.
  • Provide expert-level technical oversight for engineering evaluations and designs, permit documentation, and construction operations.
  • Enhance and implement knowledge of stream restoration methodologies and design techniques.
  • Facilitate and contribute to project meetings and technical discussions with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate fieldwork activities, including project identification, surveying, stream geomorphic assessments, and aquatic organism passage evaluations, which may involve working under various conditions.
  • Travel as required to support project initiatives and business development efforts.
Required Qualifications and Education

To qualify for this role, candidates should meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, hydrology, or a closely related field, with a strong interest in water resources.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional engineering and/or stream restoration experience.
  • Advanced understanding of stream geomorphology and proven experience in stream restoration projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D software.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and objectives.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the capacity to articulate project goals and responsibilities clearly.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project locations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Professional Engineering license.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling and sediment transport analysis.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience in construction oversight.
