Role Responsibilities

The Associate Product Developer plays a crucial role in managing the product development lifecycle across various categories and brands. Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the development and implementation of assigned product lines from concept to production.
  • Collaborating closely with the Product Development Manager, Creative Director, and VP of Product to ensure adherence to product development timelines and tracking tools.
  • Reviewing prototypes with designers and securing approvals for all brands.
  • Ensuring all cost and margin targets are met and accurately reported.
  • Leading bi-weekly discussions with the manufacturing team in Asia to streamline the development process.
  • Managing product reviews at all stages, including prototypes, photo samples, sales samples, and pre-production samples.
  • Educating marketing teams on product specifications.
  • Proofreading catalogs and packaging for accuracy.
  • Maintaining an organized library of relevant fabrics, trims, and samples.
  • Facilitating product reviews at all sample stages, focusing on specifications, construction, design intent, and overall quality.
  • Ensuring a smooth transition from design to manufacturing, confirming all deliverables are complete and accurate.
  • Coordinating salesman sampling and catalog development to support a successful go-to-market strategy.
  • Collaborating with the Quality Control Manager to ensure thorough material and durability testing.
  • Managing the product testing process and integrating feedback from testing.
  • Preparing and sharing fit photos and comments.
  • Updating technical packs and creating visual line plans, boards, and work-in-progress documents.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Design, Technical Design, Development, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in product development with a solid understanding of technical design.
  • Experience in active apparel, knitwear, and embellishments.

Preferred:

  • Ability to work outside standard business hours to communicate with international teams.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent project management capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of category technologies and general manufacturing principles.
  • General understanding of quality assurance methods.
  • Able to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Illustrator.
  • Capability to manage multiple seasonal calendars effectively.
