This position is responsible for developing functional protein products by utilizing cutting-edge protein expression and purification technologies. The duties include expressing and producing high-quality recombinant proteins for use as a research reagent, working with cloning and cell culture teams on protein expression, purification, and characterization from both prokaryotic or eukaryotic expression platforms for recombinant protein products.
The ideal candidate should possess excellent technical, troubleshooting, data collection/presenting, and project prioritizing skills to ensure on-time project closure of quality product development.

Key Responsibilities- Familiarity with recombinant protein product expression platforms of various protein families such as cytokine, growth factor, enzyme, and ligand receptors from different research areas cancer, immunology, neuroscience, etc.
- Development and execution of protein purification schemes using various chromatography methods on various platforms (i.e. AKTA FPLC, HPLC).
- Implementation of protein production activities from expression to technical transfer under ISO9001:2008/ISO13485:2016 standards.
- Participation in product design stage review and provision of quality records to ensure traceability and risk control for product release.
- Production of immunogens from prokaryotic or eukaryotic expression systems to facilitate antibody product development.
- Ownership of assigned product family and responsibility to drive projects to meet monthly, quarterly, and yearly team goals for product development.
- Leadership in troubleshooting and optimization on protein expression, homogeneity, and stability of developing and released products.
- Support to execute and validate different protein chemistry protocols such as protease cleavage and conjugation.
- Active involvement in defining, designing, and developing relative biological methods for product validation with application teams for both new product development and current product improvement projects.
- Facilitation of Manufacturing Group for purification/QC workflow development and SOP optimizing/troubleshooting in various production stages including expression constructs, culture systems, purification schemes, formulation, and stability issues.
- Establishment, coordination, and communication of project timelines and deliverables with internal and external product development teams.
- Responsibility for personnel training, goal setting, and performance management.
- Maintenance of a current knowledge of protein chemistry, synthetic biology, and scientific literature. Identification and validation of new technologies.
- Preparation and presentation of experimental results following Good Document Practices.
- Assistance and training of other research associates to meet the company performance standard.
- Other project responsibilities may be required.
- B.S. with generally more than 12 yrs of relevant experience OR
- M.S. with generally more than 8 yrs of relevant working experience OR
- Ph.D. with generally more than 4-6 years of post-doctoral training or relevant working experiences.
- Experience in signaling factors (i.e. Wnt proteins, interleukins, etc), cell surface proteins/receptors (i.e. Frizzled, notch, etc) or structural biology.
- Technical skills including recombinant protein design, prokaryotic protein purification, refolding, protein solubility, and buffer formulation, conjugation, or protein characterization.
- Prior working experiences under ISO13485/GMP environment.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000 - $110,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.
Work Environment and Physical DemandsThis position requires regular work in a laboratory environment with occasional data entry on a computer. Occasional exposure to a warehouse environment.
