Role Responsibilities

The Associate Product Developer will oversee the product development lifecycle across various categories and brands. This includes coordinating from initial concept discussions to final product delivery at manufacturing sites. Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving the development and execution of assigned product lines from design through to production.
  • Collaborating closely with the Product Development Manager, Creative Director, and VP of Product to uphold product development timelines and tracking mechanisms.
  • Reviewing prototypes in partnership with designers and securing approvals for all brands.
  • Ensuring that all cost and margin targets are met and accurately reported.
  • Leading bi-weekly discussions with the manufacturing team in Asia to streamline the development process.
  • Managing product reviews at all stages, including prototypes and pre-production samples, ensuring alignment with design specifications and quality standards.
  • Educating marketing teams on product specifications and details.
  • Proofreading catalogs and packaging for precision.
  • Maintaining an organized library of relevant fabrics, trims, and samples.
  • Facilitating product reviews at various sample stages, focusing on specifications, construction, design intent, and overall quality.
  • Overseeing the transition from design to manufacturing, ensuring all deliverables are complete and accurate.
  • Coordinating salesman samples and literature for effective go-to-market strategies.
  • Collaborating with the Quality Control Manager to ensure comprehensive material and durability testing.
  • Managing the product testing process and integrating feedback throughout development.
  • Preparing and sharing fit photos and comments.
  • Updating technical packs as necessary.
  • Creating and revising visual line plans, boards, and work-in-progress documents.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Design, Technical Design, Development, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in product development with a solid understanding of technical design principles.
  • Experience in active apparel, knitwear, and embellishments.

Preferred:

  • Ability to work outside standard business hours to accommodate international communications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent project management capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of category technologies and manufacturing principles.
  • General understanding of quality assurance methodologies.
  • Able to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Illustrator.
  • Capability to handle multiple seasonal calendars effectively.
