Department Insight

The Intensive Mobile Treatment (IMT) department utilizes a forward-thinking, trauma-informed approach to deliver treatment and support to individuals whose needs have been unmet by conventional services. Our IMT teams engage with various systems, including homelessness services, criminal justice, and behavioral health, ensuring a comprehensive support network for participants who are often underserved.

Role Summary

The Harm Reduction Specialist plays a vital role within a diverse team of mental health professionals. This position focuses on connecting with participants through harm reduction methodologies, employing techniques such as motivational interviewing and tailored interventions that align with an individual's readiness for change. The specialist serves as a knowledgeable resource for colleagues regarding mental health and concurrent substance use issues, prioritizing a non-judgmental and supportive approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage participants using harm reduction strategies that respect their current circumstances.
  • Provide training and consultation to staff on effectively supporting individuals exhibiting high-risk behaviors.
  • Collaborate with team members to facilitate access to necessary resources and services.
  • Utilize assertive engagement techniques to proactively connect with individuals in need.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Criminal Justice, or a related field; LMSW is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience working with individuals experiencing mental health issues alongside substance use disorders.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends, to meet participant needs.
  • Ability to navigate the community effectively, including using public transportation.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite, with a willingness to learn new systems.
  • Must pass background checks as required by state regulations.
