Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team at the Fred Cooper Substance Abuse Service Center. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with substance use disorders and helping them achieve long-term sobriety and stability in their lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with shelter staff to address the needs of clients with substance use disorders
  • Meet with clients in assigned shelters to provide education and support
  • Engage clients in activities such as mealtimes and recreation to promote wellbeing and offer peer support
  • Escort and assist clients in accessing substance use service providers
  • Collect data and write progress notes as appropriate
  • Attend community meetings as assigned
Requirements
  • H.S. diploma/GED and Certified Peer Specialist (CRPA) Certificate
  • Knowledge of OASAS rules and regulations
  • Basic computer literacy required
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
