We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team at the Fred Cooper Substance Abuse Service Center. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with substance use disorders and helping them achieve long-term sobriety and stability in their lives.
Key Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with shelter staff to address the needs of clients with substance use disorders
- Meet with clients in assigned shelters to provide education and support
- Engage clients in activities such as mealtimes and recreation to promote wellbeing and offer peer support
- Escort and assist clients in accessing substance use service providers
- Collect data and write progress notes as appropriate
- Attend community meetings as assigned
- H.S. diploma/GED and Certified Peer Specialist (CRPA) Certificate
- Knowledge of OASAS rules and regulations
- Basic computer literacy required
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
