Role Summary
The Harm Reduction Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering engagement and support services to individuals who may be involved in high-risk behaviors, including substance misuse and unsafe practices. Utilizing a harm reduction framework, the focus is on meeting individuals at their current stage and offering compassionate, non-judgmental support. Additionally, this role involves providing guidance, training, and resources to staff members working with tenants who engage in these behaviors. The Harm Reduction Specialist is expected to champion Community Access Inc.'s commitment to harm reduction practices.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the mission of Community Access Inc.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Three to five years of experience in substance abuse and mental health support.
- Comprehensive knowledge of harm reduction principles.
- Dedication to recovery-oriented practices.
- Must undergo fingerprinting and clearance by the Office of Mental Health (OMH).
- Ability to clearly articulate program objectives.
- Proficient in conflict resolution and assertive problem-solving.
- Strong leadership capabilities and teamwork skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Creative, adaptable, and proactive.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred; proficiency in other relevant languages is a plus.
