Department Insight

The Intensive Mobile Treatment (IMT) department utilizes a progressive, trauma-informed approach to deliver treatment and support to individuals who have not found success with conventional services. Our IMT teams engage with various systems, including homeless services and behavioral health, to ensure that individuals receive the care they need. The teams focus on fostering connections with participants, particularly those who are experiencing homelessness or transitioning between institutional settings.

Role Summary

The Harm Reduction Specialist plays a crucial role within a collaborative team of mental health professionals. This position is dedicated to utilizing harm reduction techniques, such as motivational interviewing and tailored interventions, to assist individuals in their journey toward change. The specialist serves as a vital resource for team members regarding mental health and substance use issues, promoting a non-judgmental and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage participants using harm reduction strategies to facilitate their readiness for change.
  • Provide training and support to staff on best practices for working with individuals exhibiting high-risk behaviors.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure comprehensive care and support for participants.
  • Maintain flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of participants, including availability during evenings and weekends.
  • Utilize technology effectively for documentation and communication purposes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field; LMSW preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with mental health conditions and co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Ability to navigate community settings and utilize public transportation.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office Suite.
  • Successful completion of background checks as required by state regulations.
