Position Overview

The Substance Use Treatment Specialist is a licensed expert who plays a crucial role within the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team of behavioral health professionals. This position entails a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Facilitating Clinical Discussions: Leading the ACT team in clinical discussions focused on substance use challenges and integrating insights into individualized service plans.
  • Implementing Integrated Treatment: Overseeing the ACT team's approach to Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT) to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Client Needs Assessment: Evaluating clients' needs based on the severity of their substance use disorders, their readiness for change, and immediate requirements, while recommending treatment goals for their service plans.
  • Conducting Assessments: Providing thorough substance use evaluations and diagnoses, promoting harm reduction strategies, and applying assertive outreach techniques tailored to each client's stage of recovery.
  • Risk Evaluation: Engaging in assessments to gauge the risk level associated with substance use and related harmful behaviors, determining the necessary interventions to support recovery.
  • Referral Coordination: Identifying when a client's substance use severity necessitates referrals to inpatient rehabilitation, medically managed detoxification, or other licensed programs, and acting as an advocate for clients in need of these services.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of experience in human services, specifically working with populations experiencing Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and Substance Use Disorders (SUD). A comprehensive understanding of Assertive Community Treatment, community-integrated treatment modalities, and available support services is essential.
