Overview

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Echocardiography Specialist serves as a vital technical resource in both adult and pediatric echocardiography. This role involves overseeing technical procedures and the quantitative aspects of echocardiography reports, while also managing the workflow for inpatient services to guarantee safe and effective patient care.

In this position, you will:

  • Orient and train new echocardiography laboratory technicians across all clinical areas, ensuring they are well-versed in current practices.
  • Maintain and enhance the technical proficiency of the Cardiopulmonary Technologist - Echocardiography Laboratory.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the echocardiography laboratory, directing workflow to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Evaluate echocardiography studies conducted in the laboratory, ensuring technical adequacy and providing guidance for obtaining challenging views when necessary.
  • Dismiss inpatients and outpatients after confirming the technical adequacy of their echocardiography exams, directing technicians to recall patients for additional views as needed.
  • Develop and implement a continuing education program that targets identified areas for improvement.
  • Assist in writing, updating, and maintaining orientation and procedure manuals for various areas of expertise within the echocardiography laboratory.
  • Train and orient new employees, providing essential educational materials and resources to support staff in preparing for RDMS certification.
  • Act as the primary instructor for trainees from external institutions.
  • Provide insights regarding equipment conditions and serve as an alternate contact for Bio-Medical in the absence of the chief echocardiography technologist.
  • Offer feedback on staff performance levels.
  • Perform additional duties as required or assigned.

Work Schedule

Shifts may include full or half days.

Qualifications

An Associate's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in cardiac echocardiography is required.

Licensure and Certifications

RDMS certification in adult, pediatric, and fetal echocardiography is required, along with BCLS certification. Additionally, licensure by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the state of New Hampshire is necessary.
