As a key member of the cardiology team, the Senior Echocardiography Specialist plays a vital role in both adult and pediatric echocardiography.
This position entails overseeing technical procedures and ensuring the accuracy of echocardiography reports while coordinating workflow to promote safe and effective patient care.
Responsibilities- Serve as a technical expert in the echocardiography department, guiding both new and existing staff in best practices.
- Maintain and enhance the technical proficiency of the Cardiopulmonary Technologist and the Echocardiography Laboratory.
- Supervise daily operations within the echocardiography lab, ensuring optimal workflow and patient safety.
- Evaluate echocardiography studies to guarantee technical adequacy, providing necessary guidance for challenging views.
- Assess the quality of inpatient and outpatient echocardiography exams, directing technicians to perform additional views as needed.
- Develop and implement ongoing education programs tailored to identified areas for improvement.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of orientation and procedural manuals for various echocardiography specialties.
- Train and mentor new employees, supplying educational resources to support their preparation for RDMS certification.
- Act as a liaison with Bio-Medical services in the absence of the chief echocardiography technologist, providing insights on equipment conditions.
- Contribute to performance evaluations of staff members.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned.
- Associate's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in cardiac echocardiography is required.
- RDMS certification in adult, pediatric, and fetal echocardiography.
- BCLS certification.
- Licensed by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the state of New Hampshire.
