Residential Nurse

At Home of the Innocents, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residential Administration professional to join our team.
Job Summary:The Residential Administration professional will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of our clients, providing medical care in a respectful and discrete manner, and coordinating medical services. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure health needs are continually met through initial medical screening, treatment, and medication administration.
- Triage clients and provide treatment or make referrals as necessary, educating staff on medical procedures and supplies.
- Document all medical treatments, triages, and assessments, maintaining accurate and confidential client records.
- Provide PRN medications for clients as prescribed, educating staff on medication use and administration.
- Coordinate medical services, making ordered changes to medications as prescribed by medical providers and obtaining necessary medications.
- Develop and assist with protocols as required, educating staff on policy, procedure, and practice.
- Supervise and audit medication administration, presenting requested information to the Quality Improvement Committee as needed.
- Educate staff and clients on special medical needs, medication side effects, and hygiene practices.
- Maintain communication and act as liaison with medical providers, staff, pharmacy, and supervisors to ensure adequate client care.
- Report significant findings to appropriate departments for follow-up, continuity of care, and client safety.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information according to HIPAA standards.
- Train and supervise relief CKC Program Nurses, understanding and treating clients according to the State Nurse Practice Act.
- Candidate must be a graduate of an approved LPN or RN program.
- Must provide and maintain an active and unencumbered LPN or RN license to practice in the state of Kentucky.
- Current CPR/BLS certification is required.
- Must possess the ability to prioritize tasks and implement completion utilizing critical thinking skills.
- Must accrue and maintain annual continuing education requirements as required by facility and/or state regulations.
- Valid driver's license and clear driving record is required.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that affect Special Health Clinics.
- Moves intermittently during working hours.
- Is involved with clients, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
- Subject to hostile and emotionally upset clients, family members, personnel, and visitors.
- Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors.
- Works beyond normal working hours when necessary.
- Subject to on-call support.
- Subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc. throughout the day, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, and other air contaminants.
- Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB, AIDS, and Hepatitis viruses.
- May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, emotionally unstable, or hostile people within the facility.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of clients during emergency situations.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of four feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 100 feet.
- Must be able to carry supplies and lift small children up to 40 lbs.
