Job Title: Residential Administration

At Home of the Innocents, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Residential Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our clients.

Job Summary:

The Residential Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality medical care to our clients in a respectful and discrete manner. This includes coordinating medical services, administering prescribed medications, and performing initial medical screenings. You will also be responsible for training and supervising staff on medication administration and ensuring continuity of care.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure health needs are continually met through admission health screenings and ongoing assessments.
  • Triage clients and provide treatment or make referrals as necessary.
  • Document all medical treatments, triages, and assessments.
  • Provide PRN medications for clients as prescribed and educate staff on their use.
  • Make ordered changes to medications as prescribed by medical providers and obtain those medications.
  • Develop and assist with protocols as required.
  • Educate staff on policy, procedure, practice, and documentation of medication administration.
  • Intermittently supervise and audit administration and present requested information to the Quality Improvement Committee.
  • Maintain and retain client health records according to procedure.
  • Provide intermittent education to clients based on current need.
  • Maintain communication and act as liaison with medical providers, staff, pharmacy, client, and supervisors as necessary to provide adequate client care.
  • Report significant findings to appropriate departments for follow-up, continuity of care, and client safety.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information according to HIPAA standards.
  • Train and supervise relief CKC Program Nurses.
  • Understand and treat clients according to the State Nurse Practice Act.
Requirements:
  • Candidate must be a graduate of an approved LPN or RN program.
  • Must provide and maintain an active and unencumbered LPN or RN license to practice in the state of Kentucky.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification is required.
  • Must possess the ability to prioritize tasks and implement completion utilizing critical thinking skills.
  • Must accrue and maintain annual continuing education requirements as required by facility and/or state regulations.
  • Valid driver's license and clear driving record is required.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that affect Special Health Clinics.
Working Conditions:

The Residential Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of patient contact. The position requires the ability to move intermittently throughout the workday and to work beyond normal working hours when necessary. The nurse will be subject to on-call support and may be required to assist in the evacuation of clients during emergency situations.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, emotionally unstable, or hostile people within the facility.
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of clients during emergency situations.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of four feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 100 feet.
  • Must be able to carry supplies and lift small children up to 40 lbs.
