Role Overview
This role necessitates a comprehensive understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of MemorialCare Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center. The Patient Care Assistant I (PCA I) Float Pool is an unlicensed caregiver operating under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The PCA I Float Pool provides fundamental patient care, including data collection, personal hygiene assistance, and support with daily living activities such as ambulation, toileting, and feeding. This position performs assigned tasks and plays a crucial role in facilitating departmental/unit flow activities that enhance patient care and maintain a safe, clean environment. Effective communication and documentation of patient-related data within their defined scope of practice are essential. Knowledge of growth and development principles, as well as consideration of cultural, psychosocial, and spiritual needs, is integral to providing patient care. Furthermore, the PCA I Float Pool collaborates with other healthcare team members to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. This position reports directly to the Executive Director of Acute Care.
Key Responsibilities
- Exhibit the ability to safely, promptly, and competently execute assigned responsibilities.
- Adhere to directions and communicate effectively with the Registered Nurse and other healthcare team members in an organized, clear, and timely manner.
- Collect and document relevant information regarding the patient's status in the electronic medical record and inform the Registered Nurse of any changes in the patient's condition.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights, maintaining confidentiality of all sensitive information related to patients and employees.
- Utilize strong customer service skills to manage and acknowledge patient-family-significant other expectations.
- Exhibit tact, sensitivity, and discretion at all times.
- Integrate knowledge of job-specific competencies, proper equipment usage, and maintain educational competencies and licensure.
- Demonstrate punctuality and reliability in attendance.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and directives.
- Engage positively and constructively with others.
- Effectively prioritize and multitask.
- Placement in the pay range is influenced by various factors, including relevant experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, additional compensation may be available for this role, including shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.
