Role Overview
This role necessitates a comprehensive understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of MemorialCare Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center. The Patient Care Assistant I (PCA I) Float Pool is an unlicensed caregiver working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The PCA I Float Pool delivers fundamental patient care, including data collection, personal hygiene assistance, and support with daily living activities such as ambulation, toileting, and feeding. This position performs assigned tasks that are crucial in facilitating departmental/unit flow activities that support patient care and ensure a safe, clean environment. Effective communication and documentation of patient care data within the defined scope of practice are essential. Knowledge of growth and development principles, as well as cultural, psychosocial, and spiritual considerations, is integral when providing patient care. Additionally, the PCA I Float Pool collaborates with other healthcare team members to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. This position reports directly to the Executive Director of Acute Care.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform assigned duties in a timely manner.
- Communicates effectively with the Registered Nurse and other healthcare team members in an organized and clear manner.
- Collects and documents pertinent information regarding the patient's status in the electronic medical record and alerts the Registered Nurse to any changes in the patient's condition.
- Maintains patient privacy rights and confidentiality of all sensitive information in any form.
- Exhibits strong customer service skills by managing and acknowledging patient and family expectations.
- Demonstrates tact, sensitivity, and discretion at all times.
- Integrates knowledge of job-specific competencies and proper equipment usage while maintaining educational competencies.
- Arrives at work punctually and adheres to company policies and procedures.
- Interacts positively and constructively with others.
- Prioritizes and multitasks effectively.
- Placement in the pay range is based on various factors, including relevant experience and qualifications. Additional compensation may be available for this role, including shift differentials and bonus opportunities.
