Role Overview
This role necessitates a comprehensive understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of MemorialCare Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center. The Patient Care Assistant I (PCA I) Float Pool serves as an unlicensed caregiver under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The PCA I Float Pool delivers fundamental patient care, including data collection, personal hygiene assistance, and support with daily living activities such as ambulation, toileting, and feeding. This position performs assigned tasks and plays a crucial role in facilitating departmental/unit flow activities that support patient care and ensure a safe, clean environment. Effective communication and documentation of patient-related data within their defined scope of practice are essential. Knowledge of growth and development principles, as well as cultural, psychosocial, and spiritual considerations, is incorporated into patient care. Furthermore, the PCA I Float Pool collaborates with other healthcare team members to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and achieve desired patient outcomes. This position reports directly to the Executive Director of Acute Care.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrates the ability to safely, timely, and competently perform assigned duties.
- Follows directions and communicates with the Registered Nurse and other healthcare team members in an organized, clear, and timely manner.
- Collects and documents information pertinent to the patient's status in the electronic medical record and notifies the Registered Nurse of any changes in the patient's condition.
- Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial, and other sensitive information related to patient and employee privacy.
- Exhibits strong customer service skills by managing and acknowledging patient-family-significant other expectations.
- Demonstrates tact, sensitivity, and discretion at all times.
- Integrates knowledge of job-specific competencies and proper equipment usage while maintaining educational competencies and licensure.
- Demonstrates punctuality and reliability in attendance.
- Adheres to company policies, procedures, and directives.
- Interacts positively and constructively with others.
- Prioritizes and multitasks effectively.
- Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors, including relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.
