Position Overview:

As a Sales Route Support Specialist, you will collaborate with management to strategize and provide relief for designated sales routes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the sales manager to establish route relief schedules ahead of time.
  • Deliver products, equipment, and supplies to current clients.
  • Encourage existing clients to explore additional product offerings.
  • Handle payment collections from clients.
  • Ensure optimal selection and inventory of products for each client.
  • Document and maintain records of sales, inventory, and delivery activities.
  • Oversee loading and upkeep of truck inventory.
  • Guarantee product freshness on shelves.
  • Maintain coffee brewing equipment during routes.
  • Engage in trade shows and special events to showcase the company's offerings.
  • Manage daily bank deposits for routes.
  • Keep the truck clean and perform routine maintenance.
  • May be assigned additional tasks as necessary.

Position Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required; passing an aptitude test may substitute for formal education.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant customer sales and service experience.
  • Experience with Community Coffee may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager.
  • Preferred experience in route sales and cold calling within a Direct Store Delivery (DSD) environment.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • A valid driver's license is required; a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be necessary for certain locations.
  • DOT medical certification is required.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical is mandatory.
  • If clients require COVID vaccination for entry, vaccination is a condition of employment.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

The physical requirements outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to effectively perform the essential functions of this role. While fulfilling the duties of this position, the employee will service/sell to approximately 20-30 clients daily and is required to:

  • Regularly use hands for handling and reaching.
  • Frequently stand, walk, climb, or balance; regularly stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Get in and out of a vehicle frequently.
  • Lift up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Occasionally push or pull up to 100 pounds using rolling equipment.
  • Have specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts, in high places, and in various weather conditions. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles may occur, and the noise level in the work environment is typically moderate, but may be louder in warehouse areas.
