Role Summary: The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will play a pivotal role in the development, implementation, and enhancement of various machining and assembly processes within SIG SAUER's manufacturing facilities. This position will focus on CNC machining and assembly of precision firearm components, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize manufacturing processes within the facility.
  • Assess and determine manufacturing methodologies for innovative firearm designs, providing budget estimates for necessary equipment and production rates.
  • Utilize project management skills to acquire tooling and equipment for new product launches, ensuring alignment with timelines and cost objectives.
  • Oversee production line performance, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet cost, productivity, and quality targets.
  • Develop annual cost-saving strategies through comprehensive analysis and established procedures.
  • Evaluate product designs for manufacturability, applying principles of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Offer expert guidance in areas such as high-volume CNC machining, machine/tool design, assembly processes, and automation.
  • Conduct debugging and validation of new capital equipment to achieve quality and throughput goals.
  • Create detailed process documentation, including quality control plans and operator instructions, utilizing SIG Agile product lifecycle tools.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Lead initiatives to resolve quality issues using statistical methods and maintain high standards of production.
  • Act as a mentor and technical resource for junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Engage in continuous improvement projects and maintain organized workspaces through 5S practices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering with 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
  • Experience with Six Sigma methodologies is preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and SOLIDWORKS, along with data analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of materials and heat treatment processes.
  • Ability to leverage extensive experience to achieve project goals.
  • Demonstrated capability in evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and quality in work output.
  • Effective communication skills for conveying complex concepts clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills with proficiency in project management techniques.
  • Creativity and flexibility in problem-solving approaches.

  • Prolonged periods of desk work and computer use.
  • Physical ability to manage files and equipment as needed.
  • Compliance with safety protocols and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
