Role Summary: The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will play a pivotal role in the enhancement and optimization of machining and assembly operations within SIG SAUER's manufacturing facilities. This position focuses on the development and refinement of production lines, particularly in CNC machining and assembly of firearm components, guided by precise technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and strategize manufacturing workflows within the production environment.
  • Expertly assess and establish manufacturing methodologies for innovative firearm designs, including budget estimations for necessary tools and equipment.
  • Utilize project management principles to acquire tooling and machinery for new product launches, ensuring adherence to timelines and financial objectives.
  • Oversee the achievement of cost efficiency, productivity, and quality benchmarks across production lines in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and implement annual cost-saving initiatives through thorough analysis and established protocols.
  • Enhance product designs for manufacturability, applying principles of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Provide specialized guidance in technical systems and manufacturing processes, with expertise in:
    • CNC machining fixtures
    • Machine and Tool Design
    • Assembly Techniques
    • Metal Finishing Processes
    • Automation Solutions
  • Conduct debugging and testing of new capital equipment to align with quality and throughput objectives.
  • Draft comprehensive machine specifications and negotiate with suppliers to meet operational requirements.
  • Create detailed process documentation, including quality control plans and operational instructions, utilizing SIG Agile product lifecycle management tools.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Address and mitigate quality challenges using statistical methodologies across production lines.
  • Act as a technical mentor to junior engineers, fostering their professional development.
  • Engage in problem-solving initiatives across various products and processes, ensuring timely completion of assigned projects.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and maintain organized workspaces through 5S practices.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering with 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of GD&T standards (ASME Y14.5M-1994).
  • Certification in Shainin Red X and/or Six Sigma is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and SOLIDWORKS, with strong data analysis skills.
  • Solid knowledge of materials and heat treatment processes.
  • Ability to leverage extensive experience to achieve operational goals.
  • Experience in evaluating and optimizing manufacturing processes and production lines.
  • High standards for quality and precision in work output.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for complex topics.
  • Ability to manage documentation and project timelines effectively.
  • Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving capabilities.

Working Environment:

  • Prolonged periods of desk work and computer use.
  • Physical capability to manage files and equipment as necessary.
  • Compliance with safety protocols and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
