Job Overview:
The City of Richland's Fire & Emergency Services department is actively seeking qualified candidates for the position of Emergency Response Specialist - Medical Responder. This role involves a combination of firefighting and emergency medical services aimed at safeguarding life and property in various environments.

As a key member of our team, you will operate under the guidance of a Fire Captain or designated supervisor, executing both emergency and routine tasks related to fire prevention, suppression, hazardous materials management, emergency preparedness, and medical assistance.

Essential Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a valid Washington State or National Registry Paramedic certification. Additionally, applicants should have completed a Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within the last year and provide a Personal History Statement (PHS) with their application.
Other requirements include:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Certification to use a respirator at SCBA level
- Ability to obtain IFSAC Firefighter I and II certifications within six months of completing the Fire Academy.

Desirable Qualifications:
Preferred candidates may hold an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Fire Science or Fire Administration, have prior firefighting experience, and possess certifications in Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, as well as Wildland Firefighter II.

Selection Process:
The selection will be based on overall qualifications and an oral board interview. Final candidates will undergo a comprehensive background check, including integrity interviews, job suitability assessments, and verification of education and certifications.
