Overview

This position represents the initial tier of responsibility in providing essential supervision of young individuals to ensure adherence to established rules and regulations governing their care and safety.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties are fundamental and core to all roles within this classification and are not intended to be an exhaustive enumeration of all tasks associated with any specific position. As such, incumbents may undertake similar responsibilities not explicitly detailed here.
Actively supervises and engages with a designated group of youths during daily activities, which include recreation, educational programs, rehabilitation, treatment sessions, meal times, personal hygiene, and upkeep of living spaces. Monitors and assesses the behavior of youths, documenting observations and sharing reports with fellow staff members on a daily basis. Fosters and maintains positive interpersonal relationships with youths to support their social development. Educates and enforces facility protocols, rules, and disciplinary measures to the youths. Executes security protocols within the facility, which includes conducting regular inspections of units, rooms, and grounds; performing community visits; and ensuring continuous monitoring of at-risk youths. Aids in managing serious incidents and oversees the entry and exit of visitors to the facility. Accompanies youths to various activities and appointments both within and outside the facility, ensuring their supervision and appropriate conduct in all environments. Operates a vehicle as necessary to transport youths. Prepares and maintains comprehensive records and reports documenting relevant information regarding youths, including behavior management, treatment plans, progress notes, population statistics, and inventory records.

Position Requirements

Requirements for Youth Support Specialist I
Candidates must demonstrate education, training, and/or experience in the following areas:
A High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum age of 21 years. Understanding of behavior management principles, including the ability to analyze, explain, and predict behaviors, and to identify effective behavior modification strategies. Experience in supervising youths through oversight of daily activities such as recreation, treatment, meals, self-care, transportation, or education. Proficiency in narrative report writing. A valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled). Requirements for Youth Support Specialist II
Candidates must demonstrate education, training, and/or experience in the following areas:
A High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum age of 21 years. Six months of experience in ensuring the security and safety of individuals and facilities. Six months of experience in behavior management principles. Six months of experience in supervising youths. Six months of experience in narrative report writing. A valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled). Requirements for Youth Support Specialist III
Candidates must demonstrate education, training, and/or experience in the following areas:
A High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum age of 21 years. Two years of experience in maintaining the security and safety of individuals and facilities. Two years of experience in behavior management principles. Two years of experience in supervising youths. Two years of experience in narrative report writing. One year of experience in child and adolescent development. A valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled).

Employment Conditions

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The organization participates in the Federal E-Verify system, which confirms employment eligibility through the completion of Form I-9.
