Position Overview: This role represents the foundational level of engagement in providing custodial oversight of young individuals to ensure adherence to established guidelines and protocols that govern their care and safety.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are integral to all roles within this classification and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities:
- Actively participates in and supervises the daily routines of a designated group of youths, encompassing recreational, educational, rehabilitative, and treatment activities, as well as meal times, personal care, and upkeep of living environments.
- Monitors and assesses youth behavior and their adaptation to programs, sharing both written and verbal reports on these observations with fellow staff members on a daily basis.
- Fosters and maintains positive relationships with youths to support and facilitate their social integration.
- Explains and enforces facility protocols, rules, and disciplinary measures to the youths.
- Implements security measures within the facility, which includes conducting regular inspections of units, rooms, and grounds; performing community visits; and ensuring consistent monitoring of high-risk youths.
- Assists in managing significant disturbances and oversees the flow of visitors to the facility.
- Accompanies youths to various activities and appointments, ensuring their supervision and appropriate conduct in all environments. Operates a vehicle as necessary to transport youths.
- Documents and maintains comprehensive records and reports regarding youth, including behavior management, treatment plans, progress notes, population statistics, and inventory records.
Requirements for Youth Support Coordinator I:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Understanding of behavior management principles, including the ability to analyze, articulate, and predict behaviors, as well as identify suitable behavior modification techniques.
- Experience in supervising youth during daily activities such as recreation, treatment, meals, self-care, transportation, or education.
- Proficiency in narrative report writing.
- Valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled).
Requirements for Youth Support Coordinator II:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Six months of experience in ensuring the safety and security of individuals and facilities.
- Six months of experience in behavior management.
- Six months of experience in supervising youth.
- Six months of experience in narrative report writing.
- Valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled).
Requirements for Youth Support Coordinator III:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Two years of experience in maintaining safety and security.
- Two years of experience in behavior management.
- Two years of experience in supervising youth.
- Two years of experience in narrative report writing.
- One year of experience in child and adolescent development.
- Valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled).
