Position Summary

This professional role is integral to the Brand department, providing support for meetings and events across the organization, including sectors such as Consumer Tire, Commercial Tire, Retail, and Executive Leadership. The position involves managing multiple events at various stages and with differing budgets.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, exceptionally organized, and able to maintain composure under pressure. This role requires collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, necessitating a professional demeanor and the ability to contribute innovative ideas for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership and marketing teams to define event goals and assist in the design, planning, and execution of programs that align with these objectives.
  • Oversee budget management, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining high-quality programming.
  • Research and recommend suitable venues and locations for events.
  • Support the Procurement Team in contract negotiations by understanding standard contract language and negotiation practices.
  • Assist in budget creation, manage expenses to adhere to budgets, and reconcile event invoices, providing insights on cost-saving measures and preparing final budget reports post-event.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including themes, registration, attendee communication, transportation, timelines, and financial planning.
  • Facilitate the on-site execution of events, managing teams, attendees, vendor relationships, timelines, and logistics.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of trade shows, ensuring seamless coordination.
  • Work closely with senior planners to gain insights and experience from their expertise.
  • Engage professionally with individuals at various organizational levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Foster positive relationships with customers, colleagues, and service providers to enhance satisfaction during events.
  • Draft clear and error-free event communications, demonstrating an understanding of structure, detail, and tone.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) certification preferred or a willingness to pursue it.
  • 3+ years of experience in event management, including planning and operations.
  • 2+ years of experience in trade show planning and operations.
  • Familiarity with Cvent is preferred.
  • Experience across various facets of event management, including planning, execution, and post-event analysis.
  • Basic negotiation and budget management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with vendors for contract negotiations and pricing.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, independently, and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of corporate standards and procedures.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, with minimal international travel possibly required.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 3 years with a master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
