Program Highlights:

The Caterpillar Leaders for Global Operations Program offers experienced professionals a unique opportunity to gain practical experience that drives real-world change. Graduates from the MIT LGO program who join Caterpillar will embark on a comprehensive multi-phase program that includes:
  • Three rotational assignments aimed at gaining insights into the business, products, and customer needs.
  • Mentorship from senior executives at Caterpillar.
  • Focused leadership development and hands-on learning experiences.

Potential first rotational roles include:

Manufacturing Project Engineer

Engage in a facility transformation initiative at the Decatur, Illinois location, the largest Caterpillar production site in North America. This role involves supporting a portfolio of projects related to Large Mining Trucks, Off Highway Trucks, Wheel Tractor Scrapers, Large Wheel Loaders, and Motor Graders.

Ideal candidates will thrive in challenging environments and possess a strong passion for data analytics and its role in driving change within a LEAN manufacturing framework. Familiarity with industry benchmarks to develop recommendations for long-term performance improvement will be beneficial. Excellent communication skills are essential for motivating cross-functional teams to align with strategic objectives.

Supply Chain Project Manager

This role focuses on leading capital deployment, developing a technology roadmap, and optimizing the extended value chain for Decatur's Supply Chain and Logistics functions. Key responsibilities include enhancing processes related to ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution.

Candidates should have experience in fast-paced environments and a passion for process improvement, data analytics, and LEAN manufacturing principles. A solid understanding of supply chain functions from order to delivery, along with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach, is essential for managing cross-functional projects.

Value Chain Designer

This position involves leading a cross-functional team to design and implement a modular value chain for the next generation of Off-Highway Trucks at the Decatur facility. Responsibilities include component sourcing, automation implementation, in-process validation, and merging machine modules in transit.

Candidates should have experience in manufacturing, quality, supply chain, or procurement roles, along with knowledge of root cause analysis (RCA) and process mapping techniques. Project management and change management skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively across various organizational levels, are crucial for success.

Continuous Process Improvement Black Belt

The Hydraulic Mining Shovel product group has an opening for a Continuous Process Improvement Black Belt, responsible for leading projects that address quality defects in field products. This role involves collaborating across the organization to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Top candidates will have knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies and strong analytical skills to leverage data for problem-solving. Effective collaboration and proactive problem-solving abilities are vital for success in this role.

Additional Requirements:
  • Enrollment in the MIT LGO program with a graduation date in 2025.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience.
  • Willingness to travel and relocate domestically.
  • Open to working in both office and manufacturing environments.
