Responsibilities:
The Caterpillar Leaders for Global Operations Program offers seasoned professionals the chance to gain practical experience that drives real-world impact. Graduates from the MIT LGO program who become part of Caterpillar will engage in a comprehensive program featuring:
- Three rotational assignments aimed at gaining insights into the business, products, and customer needs.
- Mentorship from senior executives at Caterpillar.
- Focused leadership development and hands-on learning experiences.
Initial rotational assignments may include:
Manufacturing Project Engineer
Support a facility transformation initiative by executing and replicating a portfolio of projects at a major production facility. This facility is the largest in North America, producing key products and aftermarket components for various heavy machinery.
Ideal candidates will thrive in challenging environments, possess a passion for data analytics, and understand its role in driving improvements within a LEAN manufacturing context. Familiarity with industry benchmarks to formulate recommendations for multi-generational project plans will be beneficial. Strong communication skills are essential for motivating cross-functional teams to align with strategic objectives.
Supply Chain Project Manager
Lead capital deployment, develop technology roadmaps, and optimize the extended value chain for supply chain and logistics functions. Focus areas include enhancing processes related to ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution. Leveraging data analytics and automation will be crucial for streamlining operations and defining a technology roadmap that supports a cohesive facility ecosystem.
Candidates should have experience in fast-paced environments, a passion for process enhancement, and a solid understanding of supply chain functions from order to delivery. A collaborative mindset and strong problem-solving abilities are necessary for managing cross-functional projects.
Value Chain Designer
Lead a cross-functional team to design and implement a modular value chain for producing advanced heavy machinery. This role involves collaborating across the organization to determine component sourcing, implement automation, and validate processes.
Candidates should have a background in manufacturing, quality, supply chain, or procurement, along with knowledge of root cause analysis and process mapping techniques. Experience in project and change management, as well as the ability to influence stakeholders at various organizational levels, will be key to success.
Continuous Process Improvement Black Belt
An opportunity exists to lead projects aimed at addressing quality defects in products. This role will involve collaborating across the organization to identify root causes and develop corrective measures.
Successful candidates will have experience with Six Sigma methodologies and strong analytical skills to leverage data for problem-solving. Excellent collaboration and communication skills, along with a proactive approach to challenges, are essential for success.
Additional Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in the MIT LGO program with an expected graduation date in 2025.
- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience.
- Willingness to travel and relocate domestically.
- Open to working in both office and manufacturing environments.
