Position Overview

The Head of Human Resources Operations will spearhead and enhance our HR functions, ensuring operational efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance throughout the organization.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, extensive experience in HR operations, and a solid background in project management.

In this role, you will oversee the operational components of our Human Resources department, drive process enhancements, and ensure accountability in delivering high-quality Employee Relations and HR services.

This position is hands-on, suitable for someone who enjoys engaging in daily operations while also participating in strategic discussions with cross-functional leaders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish strong organizational relationships as a strategic HR Advisor.
  • Oversee HR Operations: Manage all facets of HR operations, including employee onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, HRIS management, compliance, policy development, and employee relations.
  • Streamline HR Processes: Identify and implement opportunities to optimize HR processes for improved efficiency and employee experience.
  • HRIS Management: Provide strategic oversight for HRIS systems, ensuring optimal functionality and data integrity.
  • Compliance and Policy Development: Ensure HR policies align with local, state, and national regulations, and maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • HR Metrics and Reporting: Develop and maintain HR metrics to assess operational effectiveness and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Oversee the execution of Employee Experience strategies.
  • Act as an escalation point for the People Operations team.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define long-term goals related to employee engagement and retention.
  • Create and manage a dashboard of KPIs to assess performance against departmental goals.
  • Manage relationships with benefits vendors and provide guidance on benefits administration.
Qualifications
  • Experience in K-12 Education, Charter School Management, or similar mission-driven Non-Profit environments is highly preferred.
  • A deep commitment to the mission of KIPP NC and a belief in the potential of all students.
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in HR operations, focusing on managing and optimizing HR teams and processes.
  • Proven expertise in project management methodologies with a successful track record of delivering complex projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of HRIS systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, particularly Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes, including talent management, employee engagement, and compliance.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP and HR certifications (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP & SHRM-SCP) are desirable.
Work Environment

This position is primarily remote, with approximately 20% travel required for school visits and in-person meetings.
