Job Summary

The Float Health Assistant II provides clinical and administrative support according to coverage needs in the Internal Medicine and Urgent Care departments.

Clinical Duties
  • Prepares examination rooms, performs EKGs and waived testing, maintains patient flow, and provides patient instruction regarding preparation of tests/procedures.
  • Assists clinicians during examinations and minor procedures, and prepares medical records ensuring that confidentiality is maintained.
  • Monitors patient flow, identifies potential life-threatening situations during telephone encounters, and demonstrates universal precautions in all care delivery.
  • Assists with pelvic examinations and pap smears, provides patient instruction regarding preparation of tests/procedures, and carries out proper procedure for reporting faulty equipment.
Administrative Duties
  • Assists patients on the phone and in person, checks patients in and collects copays, and schedules appointments (including outside tests).
  • Performs data entry, general office responsibilities including typing and sending out letters, and assists patients by providing directions, escorting, transporting, and ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Handles emergency phone calls appropriately, efficiently, and according to emergency protocol, and responds appropriately to patient requests for medical record information.
Requirements
  • Graduate of medical and/or nursing assistant program.
  • Two years of patient service experience.
  • Administrative experience in a healthcare environment, knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, and excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Good judgment, ability to identify and set priorities, multi-task, and work well with deadlines, and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
