Position Overview: The Youth Behavioral Support Specialist (YBSS) plays a crucial role in executing designated components of a treatment strategy for assigned youths within the service areas of CVCA. This role involves teaching and reinforcing positive social and adaptive skills, ensuring these skills are transferred to family and educational settings. YBSSs deliver services in various environments including schools, homes, and community settings, either individually or in group formats.

Qualifications: Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Possess one of the following certifications: BCaBA, RBT, or BCAT.
or
  • Hold a behavioral health certification or behavioral analysis certification from an accredited organization.
or
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent, along with completion of a 40-hour training covering the RBT Task List, certified by a BCBA or BCaBA.
or
  • Have two years of verified full-time experience in providing behavioral health services to children.
Essential Skills:
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of clinical guidelines and service expectations.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work-related stress effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:

Key duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and participating in supervision as per program policies.
  • Completing progress notes and encounter forms promptly.
  • Adhering to the rules of the environment where services are provided.
  • Assisting youths in exhibiting appropriate behaviors.
  • Reinforcing adaptive, pro-social behaviors through consistent rewards.
  • Monitoring youths' participation in activities and providing necessary support.
  • Delivering skill instruction as outlined in the Individual Treatment Plan (ITP).
  • Conducting crisis intervention sessions when necessary.
  • Utilizing the least restrictive interventions to address behavioral issues.
  • Contributing to the development of the youth's ITP.
  • Maintaining regular communication with the treatment team for feedback on youth performance.
Supervision Requirements:
  • Participate in weekly supervision if working full-time, or bi-monthly if part-time, with at least one hour being face-to-face.
  • New hires without prior experience must complete a specified amount of onsite supervision before working independently.
  • Regular direct observation of service delivery is required.
Training Requirements:
  • All new hires must attend mandatory orientation and complete required training.
  • Individuals hired after a specific date with no prior experience must complete a minimum number of training hours before working alone.
  • Ongoing training is required annually for experienced staff.
Work Environment:
  • Services are provided in family homes, community settings, and schools.
  • Travel between various sites may be necessary.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work-related stress.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking up and down stairs and lifting up to twenty pounds.
