About the Role

Dunbar Community Counseling Services is seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Intervention Specialist to join our team. As a Behavioral Intervention Specialist, you will provide behavioral intervention consultation services to our treatment team for children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct observations of children in their home or school setting to inform the development of intervention plans.
  • Develop and implement intervention plans, providing instruction and guidance to treatment team members on their roles and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with the interagency team to ensure that school, home, and community behavioral plans are aligned and complementary.
  • Provide consultation services to the treatment team as needed, using a consultative approach to support the implementation of intervention plans.
Individual Services Provision
  • Behavior consultation services involve clinical direction of services to children, youth, or young adults, development and revision of individualized treatment plans, and oversight of the implementation of these plans.
  • Assess behavioral needs and design and direct the implementation of behavioral interventions.
  • Identify behavioral goals in measurable terms and select appropriate interventions for inclusion in individualized treatment plans.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret data to determine any changes to goals and objectives included in individualized treatment plans.
  • Consult with mobile therapists or behavior health technicians on behavioral management protocols.
  • Review clinical outcomes for behavioral interventions to determine their effectiveness.
Organizational Accountability and Relationship
  • Report to the Administrative Director, Clinical Director, and CEO.
  • Conduct individual supervision of behavior health technicians.
  • Engage in training support as needed.
  • Participate in monthly peer supervision.
  • Provide clinical support to clients and assist the treatment team in securing services.
Competencies and Personal Characteristics
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated supervisory abilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience
  • Be licensed as a behavior specialist in this Commonwealth.
  • Hold a current certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or other graduate-level certification in behavior analysis.
  • Have a graduate degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
  • Have a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in providing mental health direct services to children, youth, or young adults.
  • Hold valid child Abuse, criminal history, CPR/First Aid, and FBI clearances.
  • BSC, BSL, FBA, License, or BCBA Certification preferred.
