Merchandising Manager, Intimate Apparel

POSITION OBJECTIVE:


This role is accountable for meeting sales, gross margin, and profit objectives for a designated Omni-channel business through effective selection, pricing, and promotion of products, while employing suitable merchandising and management strategies to optimize the company's return on inventory investment and retail space, both in-store and online.

Formulates and executes a customer-focused strategy, supported by pre-season and in-season analysis, to respond to sales trends and enhance business performance.


FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and oversees the execution of the quarterly strategic view of the line (SVL) for the brand, concentrating on creating a robust assortment architecture that aligns with business strategies.
  • Conducts market research analysis to identify trends and opportunities applicable to the core customer; pinpoints key opportunities that inform business strategies.
  • Acts as the voice of the customer; possesses in-depth knowledge of the target customer to ensure product offerings and outfitting deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Fosters strong collaborations across various functional areas including Planning, Design, Product Development, Sourcing, Marketing, Site Merchandising Operations, International, Allocation, and Visual.
  • Collaborates with Sourcing and Product Development to establish target retail prices that align with financial objectives and communicate these to key stakeholders.
  • Works with Design, Sourcing, and Product Development teams to guarantee proper fit and quality of merchandise.
  • Coordinates with key stakeholders to ensure optimal distribution that maximizes sales performance.
  • Determines order quantities by style, size, and color; validates against KPI objectives, Line Plan, and OTB plan.
  • Regularly assesses sales trends and makes merchandising decisions in collaboration with leadership to enhance results and mitigate risks.
  • Partners with the Sourcing team to manage the flow and timing of deliveries, ensuring all commitments are fulfilled promptly.
  • Collaborates with Marketing to understand the visual placement of products and its impact on sales. Works with the Visual team and Merchant leaders on key initiatives requiring marketing and visual placement.
  • Ensures ongoing collaboration with Digital Commerce Merchandising Site Operations and International teams regarding final assortment and necessary updates.
  • Maintains coordination with Site Merchandising partners on final assortment.
  • Engages with Store Operations, if necessary, to develop relevant training and communication to enhance workflow.
  • Values individuality and the diverse talents of the team. Leads by setting clear expectations, providing guidance, delivering constructive feedback, and empowering team members to excel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in Intimate Apparel is preferred.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in Brand Development and Merchandising for a leading national multi-channel apparel retailer.
  • Management experience is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Exceptional analytical skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational capabilities.
  • Proficient in managing the open-to-buy process.
  • Ability to interpret numerical data and possess a thorough understanding of inventory/open-to-buy.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Capability to multitask and lead cross-functional teams effectively.
