Position Overview

The Patient Care Associate is responsible for delivering both patient care and ancillary support tasks within their designated scope of practice, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.


Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
  • Monitoring vital signs and documenting intake and output
  • Conducting EKGs and collecting specimens
  • Supporting patients during meals and errands
  • Transporting patients and handling medications or specimens
  • Facilitating patient ambulation and providing urinary drainage care
  • Assisting with colostomy care and applying binders
  • Weighing patients and aiding healthcare providers during procedures and examinations
  • Performing additional duties as assigned
Essential Functions:

  • Adhering to organizational performance standards, policies, and behaviors
  • Executing tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Integrating patient rights into daily practice
  • Implementing current infection control methods
  • Participating in performance improvement initiatives
  • Utilizing effective decision-making processes, including recognition and prioritization of patient care issues
  • Collaborating and communicating effectively with the healthcare team
  • Completing competency requirements and attending mandatory training sessions
  • Practicing cost containment measures
  • Complying with all organizational policies, including dress code and code of conduct
  • Performing other related duties as necessary
Qualifications:

Education and experience requirements include:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Successful completion of the Patient Care Associate Orientation
  • BLS certification required for all Patient Care Associates
  • Additional training may be required for specific tasks, such as EKG monitoring

  • Ability to move throughout the facility while attending to patient needs
  • Frequent communication with patients, staff, and visitors
  • Regular use of computers and office equipment
  • Capability to lift objects up to fifty (50) pounds and assist patients of varying weights
  • Rapid assessment and response to patient and situational needs
  • Adaptability to a high-stress environment with frequent interruptions

The Patient Care Associate will work with a diverse patient population, including:

  • Neonates
  • Infants
  • Pediatrics
  • Adolescents
  • Adults
  • Geriatrics
  • Bariatric patients

Salary Range:
$42, $64,320.56

Schedule:
Per Diem, Day Shift (6 AM - 6 PM), minimum 2 shifts/week, alternating weekends and holidays.
