Position Overview:

The Live Broadcast Technician and Videographer is responsible for managing live video transmission equipment both in the field and at the studio to facilitate real-time news reporting. This role encompasses the following key responsibilities:

  • Establishing video feeds from remote locations to the studio by proficiently operating necessary equipment.
  • Setting up and connecting cables to ensure optimal video and audio clarity for broadcasts.
  • Handling audio, video, and transmission apparatus for live broadcasts.
  • Receiving video signals at the studio, coordinating with field teams to ensure quality transmission.
  • Maintaining effective communication with news directors and producers regarding transmission statuses.
  • Ensuring all assigned equipment is well-maintained and in excellent working condition.
  • Assisting with routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Capturing video and audio footage in various settings including the field, newsroom, and studio.
  • Gathering information and sound bites at news events.
  • Editing news segments under tight deadlines both in the field and in the newsroom.
  • Providing support to colleagues in news gathering efforts as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient understanding of live remote video transmission technology.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to develop skills in video photography and editing under time constraints.
  • Exemplary driving record and a valid driver's license.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and the public.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as an SNG/ENG Technician or photojournalist in a commercial television environment.
