Position Overview:

The role of the Broadcast Systems Technician is crucial in our dynamic 24/7 control room setting. This position demands a collaborative spirit, keen focus, and the ability to thrive under pressure. You will be tasked with overseeing and resolving issues related to transmission pathways for a variety of entertainment and news broadcast networks, ensuring seamless domestic and international distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring: Vigilantly observe audio, video, and ancillary data streams across multiple networks. Respond promptly to alarms and anomalies, ensuring that all content is delivered without interruption.
  • Troubleshooting: Investigate and diagnose the root causes of any discrepancies using available testing equipment. Collaborate with various teams to pinpoint issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Collaboration: Engage with engineering teams and control groups to communicate technical challenges and work towards resolutions. Liaise with external vendors to address and document any issues impacting network delivery.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough records of all operational anomalies, including maintenance logs and interaction details with other teams and vendors. Assist in refining standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks to ensure compliance with specifications for all signal components, including video and audio channels.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a broadcast television environment or a related field.
  • A degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent military communications experience.
  • Proficient understanding of signal flow and system design.
  • Familiarity with MPEG standards and video delivery systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience in a broadcast television setting.
  • Knowledge of video encoding systems and related technologies.
  • Experience with CAD/Visio and monitoring/control systems.
