Position Summary

The Client Support Specialist is responsible for delivering exceptional service to participants, beneficiaries, union locals, and providers concerning eligibility, benefits, and claims inquiries.

Access Level: Limited access to Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) as per job role.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of assigned Plans and effectively utilizes this knowledge in all job functions.
  • Provides comprehensive customer service through written, verbal, or face-to-face interactions, ensuring all inquiries are documented in accordance with various Plan benefits.
  • Updates records, including documenting system notes of conversations or actions taken.
  • Handles tasks related to the administration of retirement and health and welfare benefits, including:
    • Processing and/or distributing mailers or required forms as requested by members.
    • Managing correspondence related to member or claims status.
    • Processing enrollments and updating member information in relevant systems.
    • Distributing communications regarding regulatory requirements.
  • Initiates Action Requests to relevant departments for adjustments to claims, retirement, and/or eligibility as necessary, following up to ensure completion.
  • Researches and resolves complex issues and discrepancies.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least six months of experience in customer service, third-party administration, or benefits management.
  • Strong work ethic and collaborative mindset.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and effective listening abilities.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials, technical procedures, benefit plans, and regulations.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a call center environment related to benefits claims, billing, or eligibility.
