Job Summary

MACOM is seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal Design Engineer to join our High Performance Connectivity team. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for driving the development of state-of-the-art products for serial communications over copper and fiber.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership involving a wide range of engineering disciplines, including analog and high frequency design, system-level analysis, and architecture development.
  • Product Development: Develop innovative architectures to solve system-level challenges and trade-offs, and work with peers and junior engineers to implement design.
  • Prototype Evaluation: Drive prototype evaluation, debug, and testing, and work with application and field engineers in supporting system design-in activities.
  • Technical Mentorship: Provide technical mentorship to peers and junior engineers, and communicate with executive and functional managers.
Requirements
  • Education: MSEE with 10+ years of experience designing high frequency/high speed products in CMOS and/or BiCMOS technologies, or PhD with 6+ years of experience designing high frequency/high speed products in CMOS and/or BiCMOS technologies.
  • Experience: Demonstrated successful track record of introduction to the market of multiple products/product lines in the area of serial communications over copper and fiber.
  • Skills: In-depth understanding of all aspects of analog and high frequency design, including analog and high speed building blocks such as equalizers, CDRs, PLLs, laser drivers, transimpedance amplifiers, ADCs, and DACs.
  • Tools: Proficient with EDA design tools, electromagnetic (EMX/HFSS), and system level simulators (ADS/Matlab).
  • Standards: Familiarity with serial data communication standards (PAM4, SATA/SAS, PCIe, Infiniband, SONET/SDH, FTTx, Video SMPTE).
  • Lab Equipment: In-depth knowledge of lab equipment (real-time and sampling scopes, signal and pattern generators, spectrum analyzers, and VNAs).
  • Leadership: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and excellent organizational and leadership skills.
