Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer - Electrical Design and Integration to join our team at Northrop Grumman. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop electrical roadmaps, system schematics, wiring diagrams, parts wire list, and notes lists, as part of cable assembly build to print definition utilizing Mentor Capital.
  • Work closely with mechanical design integration electrical routers to establish physical design characteristics such as wire length.
  • Design and analysis of wire harness and RF cable assemblies.
  • Contribution to creation of technical presentations to internal team and/or customer team.
  • Development of cable drawings.
  • Collaborate with other subsystem engineers in order to integrate all systems into required platform.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with wire harness and RF cable design.
  • Fundamental understanding of wire gauge sizing and voltage drop analysis.
  • Understanding of basic data signal types (MIL-STD-1553, RS-422, CAN etc.).
  • Basic circuit design analysis and electrical system sizing/protection as well as various wire shielding requirements.
  • Experience with military aircraft avionics subsystems.
  • A current active in-scope DoD Secret security clearance or higher, with the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience with Mentor Capital application.
  • Prior experience in leading a team of engineers.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Microsoft Visio, RapidHarness, NX, AutoCAD, CATIA.
  • Prior experience in coordinating with multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) within a dynamic program environment.
  • Experience with suppliers and supplier coordination.
