Job Title: Senior Principal Electrical Engineer

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. As a key member of our Vehicle Integration organization, you will be responsible for designing and integrating electrical systems for aircraft advanced design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop electrical roadmaps, system schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable designs using Mentor Capital.
  • Work closely with mechanical design integration to establish physical design characteristics such as wire length.
  • Design and analyze wire harness and RF cable assemblies.
  • Contribute to the creation of technical presentations to internal teams and customers.
  • Develop cable drawings and collaborate with other subsystem engineers to integrate all systems into the required platform.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field and 8 years of related engineering experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM field and 6 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in a STEM field with 3 years of related engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with wire harness and RF cable design.
  • Fundamental understanding of wire gauge sizing and voltage drop analysis.
  • Understanding of basic data signal types (MIL-STD-1553, RS-422, CAN, etc.).
  • Basic circuit design analysis and electrical system sizing/protection as well as various wire shielding requirements.
  • Experience with military aircraft avionics subsystems.
  • A current active in-scope DoD Secret security clearance or higher, with the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with Mentor Capital application.
  • Prior experience in leading a team of engineers.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Microsoft Visio, RapidHarness, NX, AutoCAD, CATIA.
  • Prior experience in coordinating with multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) within a dynamic program environment.
  • Experience with suppliers and supplier coordination.
Salary Range:

$133,000 - $199,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
