Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Financial Counselor to join our team at Trinity Health. As a Patient Financial Counselor, you will play a critical role in determining patient liability, providing financial assistance, and securing payment for patient accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate patient liability on accounts, evaluate credit histories, and assess other resources.
  • Counsel patients on cost of treatment, insurance benefits, resources for payment, and financial assistance.
  • Secure and document payment arrangements.
  • Verify and update patient demographic information on registration and billing systems.
  • Collect deposits and payments.
  • Assist patients in completing forms for financial assistance, including bank loans, Medicaid, and charity care.
  • Review delinquent accounts to determine previous collection action, status, and potential collectibles.
  • Re-bill, COBS, and original bills third parties to charges posted after the billing and transfer date.
  • Prepare reports and maintain account activity logs.
  • Act as liaison with other Trinity Health service areas, family members, and physicians regarding billing requirements and financial assistance.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and one year of specialized training.
  • One to two years of progressively more responsible related work experience.
