Job Summary

Michigan Medicine is seeking an experienced certified ultrasound sonographer to perform obstetric ultrasound examinations with supervision of Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians in a high-risk obstetric ultrasound unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in obstetric ultrasound and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

* Performs all ultrasound procedures according to department procedures and established protocols.
* Adheres to the AIUM guidelines for obstetrical imaging.
* Ensures the appropriate exam is performed based on physician's orders and patient clinical history.
* Provides accurate and consistent education and explanation of exam.
* Assists physicians in performing various invasive outpatient procedures.
* Works in accordance with the hospital and department policies and procedures.
* Demonstrates critical thinking and ability to problem solve.
* Participates in continuing education.
* Assists with training and development of ultrasound skills for fellows, residents, and students.
* Provides a summary of findings to the physician to aid in patient diagnosis and management.
* Maintains necessary patient records.

Requirements

* Graduation from an ultrasonographic training program is necessary.
* Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology is necessary.
* Must be accredited in the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in obstetrics.
* Must be comfortable working closely with the Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center Team, physicians, nurses, genetic counselors, clerical staff, and other team members.
* Providing outstanding patient care is essential.
* Excellent attendance and punctuality are required.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Obstetrics, fetal anomalies, evaluation of the placenta and cervix, 3D and 4D sonography highly desired.
* Certification in Fetal Echocardiography is desired but not required.
