Job Summary

The University of Michigan is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Consultant specializing in Substance Use Disorder (SUD) to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team. As a key member of our team, you will provide comprehensive behavioral health assessments, interventions, and treatment planning for individuals experiencing substance use challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough behavioral health assessments for patients with possible substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, including diagnostic evaluations and treatment planning.
  • Collaborate with our clinicians to develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessments and evidence-based practices.
  • Provide brief interventions and crisis management as needed to address acute behavioral health needs related to substance use.
  • Coordinate and schedule telehealth visits with our Warmline clinicians to provide immediate care for individuals struggling with opioid use disorder (OUD).
  • Develop thorough knowledge of regional resources to which patients may be referred.
  • Follow an assigned caseload of patients to ensure connection to long-term care providers in local communities.
  • Provide intermittent short-term counseling and recovery strategies to improve patient success.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field from an accredited institution or Bachelors degree in nursing.
  • Licensed or certified in the State of Michigan as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Registered Nurse with a minimum of 4 years of clinical experience in behavioral health with a focus on substance use disorder treatment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in conducting behavioral health assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based interventions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of Michigan state regulations and guidelines related to behavioral health services and substance use disorder treatment.
