Maintenance Operations Supervisor

FAREVA RICHMOND, INC is currently in search of a qualified Maintenance Operations Supervisor to oversee our dynamic team. This role is essential for our second and third shift operations.

About Us: FAREVA is a prominent contract manufacturer specializing in pharmaceutical and personal care products. Our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and spans over 745,000 square feet, providing a comfortable and climate-controlled environment for our 600 dedicated employees.

Position Overview: The individual in this role will ensure the seamless and compliant functioning of advanced automated systems while fostering continuous enhancements through electrical and PLC technologies. Responsibilities will encompass electronics, electrical control systems, server and process control, hydraulics/pneumatics, basic mechanical skills, and proficiency in computer applications. This position may involve integration with the line team as needed, performing all necessary packaging tasks, including operation, quality assurance, and sanitation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the Area Manager, oversee all activities related to current and new business operations, ensuring timely project completion and adherence to production schedules.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot various filling and packaging machinery within the production units, focusing on electromechanical aspects.
  • Conduct diagnostics and repairs on programmable logic controllers (PLC), operator interfaces, variable frequency drives, servomotors, and encoders.
  • Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs, including starters, fuses, relays, wiring, and breakers.
  • Execute preventative maintenance on electrical and safety systems, ensuring compliance with established standards.
  • Analyze downtime and OEE data to identify and implement improvements.
  • Foster productive relationships within the production team, ensuring effective communication of issues and solutions.
  • Maintain the validated state of equipment, directly impacting product quality.
  • Order necessary repair parts and collaborate with maintenance personnel during troubleshooting efforts.
  • Adhere to all cGMP, PPG, regulatory, and safety standards to uphold product quality and employee safety.
  • Manage the Preventative Maintenance System within the operational framework.
  • Drive process improvements for both equipment and human resources to maintain quality within a competitive cost structure.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience in both Electrical and Mechanical trades is essential.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years in a production/manufacturing environment, with direct supervisory or management experience.
  • Possession of a journeyman's card or electrical certification is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including negotiation, coaching, and effective communication.
  • Technical expertise in high-speed diverse mixing and packaging equipment.
  • Results-oriented mindset with familiarity in lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience in FDA or ISO controlled environments is essential.
