Position Overview

The Plant Maintenance Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of equipment and systems within the facility. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and excellence in maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain various tools and equipment to execute maintenance tasks effectively.
  • Ensure that preventative maintenance schedules are adhered to and completed on time.
  • Perform installation and maintenance on a wide range of machinery, buildings, and systems.
  • Utilize manufacturer manuals, schematic diagrams, and technical plans to guide maintenance efforts.
  • Address and resolve unusual conditions or significant maintenance issues as they arise.
  • Develop and implement long-term maintenance strategies, making recommendations for improvements.
  • Work with overhead cranes and lead cost-effective maintenance initiatives.
  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting in both electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with team members to diagnose and resolve operational problems.
  • Prepare the maintenance team for daily tasks and ensure organization to meet production goals.
  • Facilitate effective toolbox meetings to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Act as a team leader, providing support and encouragement to the maintenance crew.
  • Train new employees on maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
  • Adhere to environmental policies and promote stormwater pollution prevention.
  • Lead initiatives in Metromont's 6S, Lean, and Safety Programs.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, including tools and equipment.
  • Comply with all safety regulations set forth by Metromont and OSHA.

Qualifications
  • Strong perception and visual abilities.
  • Safety-conscious mindset with the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical skills.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Knowledgeable about plant systems and equipment.
  • Able to effectively train others in job-specific processes.
  • Strong communication skills to report on work status to management.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records for operational cost analysis.
  • Understanding of chemical safety protocols.
  • Advanced reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems up to 480 volts, 3-phase.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and plans.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and conduit installation.
Education and Experience

A high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with 5-10 years of general maintenance experience. Completion of a 2-year trade or vocational program is also advantageous.
