POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Fleet Operations Maintenance Supervisor is accountable for overseeing fleet equipment across multiple locations and managing a team of technicians responsible for the preventive maintenance and repair of a fleet comprising up to 60 vehicles (diesel and alternative fuel).

Additional duties may encompass the maintenance of equipment and machinery at post-collection facilities and the management of container shops.

The Fleet Operations Maintenance Supervisor provides guidance, either directly or indirectly, to a group of technicians to ensure that all repairs and maintenance of Republic Services' equipment, including trucks, containers, and other heavy-duty machinery, are executed in alignment with the Company's safety and maintenance standards, as well as all federal and state regulations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Guide all technician levels, including lead technicians, in the maintenance facility and may oversee a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor in a satellite maintenance shop or on another shift, assigned to his or her work group to ensure that all repair and maintenance tasks are conducted safely, efficiently, and promptly.

Supervise the planning and scheduling of all repair work to enhance productivity while effectively managing the department's overtime. Monitor the shop's operational performance and efficiency, taking necessary actions to redirect activities as needed. Report to management on shop performance and implement procedures for process or programmatic enhancements for improved efficiencies.

Manage lead technicians and maintenance supervisors in the maintenance facility, encompassing responsibilities such as overseeing daily shop meetings; conducting fleet inspections; coaching and counseling lead technicians and maintenance supervisors on performance and corrective actions when necessary; making hiring and termination decisions in collaboration with Human Resources and appropriate management; overseeing employee training and performance evaluations; and evaluating, recommending, and approving supervisor recommendations for merit increases, promotions, and job changes as appropriate.

Maintain an ongoing preventive maintenance program for assigned locations.

Identify trends in road calls and breakdowns; oversee the maintenance of the building and other facilities on-site; control maintenance costs related to personnel, purchasing, inventory management, and outsourcing repairs.

Oversee external repair facilities and ensure all work is completed in accordance with the Company's safety and compliance procedures, as well as federal and state regulations; follow up as necessary.

Identify training opportunities and, when necessary, document issues and constructively discuss corrective actions with maintenance supervisors.

Conduct Quality Control Inspections, track issues, and ensure resolution to guarantee all work is completed in compliance with the Company's safety and compliance procedures, as well as federal and state regulations.

Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems to manage advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions of heavy equipment and vehicles utilized by the company, both on-site and on the road, including:
Engine chassis repair and maintenance;
Understanding of vehicle body control systems, including hydraulics and electrical systems to manage the maintenance and repair of vehicles promptly and safely;
Knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems to manage diagnosis and repair of complex heating and cooling systems in vehicles in a timely and safe manner;

Familiarity with welding tools to repair heavy equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring equipment is restored to operable condition as quickly and safely as possible.

Manage related administrative tasks for the team, including payroll, maintaining employee records, documenting all preventive and corrective maintenance performed, ensuring accurate recording of all information into Dossier Maintenance Software, preparing and submitting the budget for approval, and setting departmental goals to align with the targets and performance objectives established by the division's leadership team.

Local travel may be required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor in the transportation sector, necessitating a thorough understanding and application of safe working practices, including OSHA Haz Com, OSHA Lock Out Tag Out, OSHA Fire Safety, and other federal and state regulations.


COMPENSATION:
Pay Range: $92,000 - $145,970.00
