JOB SUMMARY:


This role involves supporting the Commercial Loan Division by analyzing financial data submitted by businesses and individuals seeking Commercial/Business loans. The objective is to assess the potential risk associated with lending.

Responsibilities include preparing cash flow assessments of personal and business tax returns and financial statements, as well as generating reports that inform decision-making processes. Additionally, this position aids in the documentation and management of the Commercial loan portfolio.

Assist in the initiation and upkeep of Commercial/Business deposit and loan accounts to ensure all required documentation is collected.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead the evaluation of commercial credit applications and associated operations.
  • Assess a borrower's repayment capacity, capital standing, and economic trends to mitigate loan risks, identifying unique risks based on the borrower's needs and the loan specifics, and making informed recommendations through underwriting to effectively manage commercial credit risk.
  • Compile, prepare, and present Credit Approval Presentations for loan applications.
  • Conduct interviews with Commercial & Business members for new accounts and loans.
  • Prepare cash flow assessments of personal and business tax returns and financial statements.
  • Submit Commercial & Business loan applications for approval.
  • Maintain and review the commercial loan maturity report.
  • Gather financial documentation for annual reviews and potential renewals of Commercial & Business loans.
  • Update and manage the Commercial & Business loan spreadsheet.
  • Verify the accuracy of the Commercial & Business loan call report provided by the CFO.
  • Stay informed about local and national economic, financial, political, and legislative developments that may impact commercial lending activities.
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery to members in lending and related areas.
  • Engage in additional activities deemed necessary to support the lending functions of Secunm.
  • Adhere to all Credit Union policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and maintain a strong understanding of procedures.
  • Understand compliance issues and participate in training related to the role, including Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC, Bank Secrecy Act, Reg P, and the Patriot Act.
  • Report any suspicious activities to the BSA Compliance Officer, following established policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Job-related travel as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Advanced expertise in reviewing commercial credit applications and assessing borrower repayment capacity.
  • Extensive experience in accounting, financial statements, cash flow analysis, and borrower-risk evaluation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Experience in the appraisal and underwriting of commercial loans.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Education/Experience:

  • Education or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department within the organization's facilities.
