About the Position

The City of San José, CA is seeking a highly skilled Marketing and Communications professional to join our team. As a key member of our Energy Department, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic external and internal initiatives to promote our clean energy programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute internal and external communication plans to ensure alignment with City goals and objectives.
  • Manage and develop communications strategies for senior leadership, including messaging and communication plans.
  • Build and manage strategic communication channels to reach diverse customer segments and stakeholders, including websites, digital newsletters, and other marketing materials.
  • Optimize marketing efforts to drive customer participation in clean energy programs and services.
  • Analyze customer journeys to streamline processes and increase customer satisfaction.
  • Write and edit internal and external communications, including press releases and op-eds.
  • Direct contact with the media to respond to requests for information and maintain a positive public image.
  • Work with the City Manager's Office and other relevant departments to maintain and uphold the department's public relations, including brand materials.
  • Manage and coordinate outside consultants to provide services such as website development, graphics, and writing.
  • Oversee communication compliance with regulatory requirements, including customer notifications.
  • Contribute to City Council memos and presentations.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor a team of communication professionals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, communications, public relations, or a closely related field.
  • Six (6) years of increasingly responsible marketing, communications, or public information experience, including three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Valid California Driver's License may be required.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is $150, $183,649.18 annually, which includes an approximate five (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay.

Selection Process

The selection process will consist of an evaluation of the applicant's training and experience based on the application, resume, and responses to the Job Specific Questions.
