Position Overview

OBJECTIVE:
The role involves delivering educational instruction across various subjects within the realm of Computer Science. This includes engaging students through lectures, practical demonstrations, hands-on laboratory sessions, and assessments. Instructors will cover topics such as hardware, software, cybersecurity, networking, and operating systems, along with other specialized areas as required.

SUPERVISION:
  • General oversight from the department chair.
  • Technical guidance from the program director.
  • Potential oversight of instructional assistants and student workers.
Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Responsibilities may encompass, but are not limited to, the following:

Core Responsibilities:
  • Deliver classroom, laboratory, and online instruction.
  • Design lesson plans and organize classroom activities; create supplementary materials to enhance learning.
  • Develop assessments to measure student understanding, grade submissions, and maintain records of individual performance.
  • Conduct demonstrations using various technologies; create laboratory assignments for practical experience.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; ensure compliance with program and accreditation standards.
  • Stay informed on advancements and changes in the field; engage in professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures relevant to the teaching area.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Teach courses during day, evening, and online sessions.
  • Perform related duties as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge:
  • Familiarity with hardware, software, operating systems, networking, and cybersecurity; specialization in multiple areas is advantageous.
  • Understanding of Artificial Intelligence is a plus.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JAVA, and C#, along with cloud development knowledge.
  • Awareness of instructional techniques and methodologies for delivering IT courses.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Understanding of academic program development and administration principles.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and instructional strategies.
  • Current trends and research in the field of Information Technology.
Skills:
  • Ability to interpret and apply institutional goals, policies, and regulations.
  • Analytical skills to assess problems and propose effective solutions.
  • Capability to foster collaboration and maintain professional relationships.
  • Physical and mental capacity to perform assigned duties, including standing or sitting for extended periods and managing multiple tasks.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Education:
  • AAS in Information Technology or Computer Science.
  • A degree from an accredited institution or specialized training meeting academic standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Information Technology or a related field with additional graduate coursework.
  • Experience in an educational setting as a tutor or instructor.
Certifications:
  • Preferred industry certifications for IT instructors.
