Position Summary: The Protective Services Case Worker is responsible for assessing and investigating cases related to Protective Services. This role involves evaluating reports, determining client risk levels, providing crisis intervention, advocacy, and ongoing case monitoring to address crisis situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate Protective Services reports as directed by the Protective Services Supervisor.
  • Conduct field assessments of older adults' physical, social, emotional, and environmental conditions to evaluate their needs and eligibility for services.
  • Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, and case management services.
  • Complete necessary documentation and maintain client records, including database entries, as per the guidelines set by the Protective Services Supervisor and regulations from the Executive Office of Elder Affairs.
  • Develop and maintain service plans aimed at resolving Protective Services cases.
  • Access relevant mental health, medical, and legal resources as required by specific cases.
  • Collaborate with case management staff for clinical consultation when appropriate.
  • Assist in community education initiatives as assigned by the Protective Services Supervisor.
  • Utilize the court system when necessary, in accordance with applicable laws and mandates.
  • Provide case coverage and support for other members of the Protective Services team.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to address challenging scenarios within caseloads.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call responsibilities as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Protective Services Supervisor.

Qualifications: A Master's degree or higher from an accredited institution in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, nursing, sociology, criminal justice, public health, public policy, or gerontology, along with at least one year of experience in counseling, casework, or case management, preferably in a Protective Services or crisis intervention capacity. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in the aforementioned fields, coupled with at least two years of relevant experience, may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree. LSW eligibility within 2.5 years of hire is required. Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in computer usage.


Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week
