Position Summary: The Elder Protective Services Specialist is responsible for evaluating and investigating cases related to protective services. This role involves assessing reports, determining client risk levels, providing crisis intervention, advocacy, and ongoing case monitoring to address urgent issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate assigned protective services reports under the guidance of the Protective Services Supervisor.
- Conduct field assessments to evaluate the physical, social, emotional, and environmental conditions of older adults, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, and case management services.
- Maintain accurate documentation and client records as per agency standards.
- Develop and implement service plans to facilitate the resolution of protective services cases.
- Coordinate with mental health, medical, and legal resources as needed.
- Collaborate with case management staff for clinical consultation.
- Participate in community education initiatives as directed.
- Utilize the court system when necessary, in accordance with applicable laws.
- Support team members with case coverage and collaboration on complex issues.
- Participate in after-hours on-call duties as required.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Protective Services Supervisor.
Qualifications: A Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, nursing, sociology, criminal justice, public health, public policy, or gerontology, along with at least one year of relevant experience in counseling or case management, preferably in protective services or crisis intervention. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in the aforementioned fields with a minimum of two years of relevant experience may be considered. LSW eligibility within 2.5 years of hire is required. Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in computer usage.
Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week
